Synopsis: After a violent thunderstorm that knocks his birdhouse off his tree. A little black bird is forced to embark on a journey to find a new home. Though the world outside his section of the forest takes the word literal to a whole new level with fish climbing trees, flying pigs, and an early rising bird.
Runtime: 2 min 30 sec
Director's Statement: To me, this film is ultimately about life’s curveballs and rolling with them. Keeping the Bird mute and nameless, I aimed to create a universal character audiences can identify with for his journey into the unknown.
I looked to the area around me for the setting, taking a lot of inspiration from Northeastern Pennsylvania’s forests. The tower I included was a staple of my teen years that has long since been demolished.
I’m happy to share this project and hope to foster an appreciation for the oddities of imagination and expression, visual and verbal.
Selected to Screen at the December showcase of the Nosebleeds Film Festival in 2024.
"Spaced" is an experimental rotoscope film intended on conveying the feelings of Apocalypticism in todays Day and Age. While the main visuals portray a casual party, the sound design ramps up feelings of anxiety and fear through layered synths, ticking clocks, and stitched together audio from past United states presidents.
Runtime: 1 Min 51 sec
Genre: Experimental Horror/Animation
Director's Statement: "Spaced", as troubling as it may sound, was originally constructed using fragments of nightmares and Pre-bed anxieties. I set out to give those feelings a face, and to give audiences a direct path to understanding it. Something I found out later to be more common than I originally thought.
Selected to be Screened at the Bensenville short film festival in 2023
Synopsis: Heartbroken Chuck gets dragged out of bed on St. Patrick's Day for a string of parties curated by his friend Cooper. Their first stop leads them to an unexpected encounter with Chuck's ex-girlfriend, Stella, who is now happily dating a seemingly flawless guy named Grant. As they continue to hop from one party to another, Chuck's emotions are put to the test, and he begins to realize the perils of jealousy.
Runtime: 2o Min 30 sec
Genre: Coming of Age/Comedy
Directors Statement: When I started writing “Gorilla Run” there were two things that were lingering in the back of my head. The American Pie series and St. Patrick’s Day. This played a huge factor in how the film was constructed. I wanted to do something grounded, that was still fun and didn’t take itself too seriously.
Utilizing a narrative loop, "The Coconuts" was designed to be appealing to the eye but unsettling to the mind. I even based it off a dream of mine to make it feel almost unreal. It's the first of hopefully many concept shorts I have coming.
Practically, I used this project to familiarize myself with what was a newly acquired Procreate Dreams. New programs always have a learning curve and the best way past it is just to use it.
